50. Seascape [cca. 1930]

The artwork "Seascape" is extremely characteristic for the creation of Nikolay Dyulgerov - one of the greatest names of futurism in the world. Most of the artist's life was spent in Italy - the homeland of Futurism. Nikolay Dyulgerov is among the innovators in the field of abstraction, collages with polymaterials, and interior design. He participates in the creation and theorizing of a new direction - air painting. "Seascape" is a geometrically dynamic composition entirely in the spirit of the direction that elevates the cool aesthetics, speed and power of the machine into a cult. The forms are clear, geometrical and constructivist, without unnecessary detailing and copying of the surrounding reality, in complete negation of the realistic painting of the 19th century. In this semi-abstract landscape we see a ship in a stormy sea of dynamic waves that resemble a platform. The composition is highly decorative and scenographic, an impact driven by the powerful spiraling of forms to the right, achieved through the use of arcs and circles in a clear construction system. The overall effect of harmony and light is achieved by immersion in blue, green and ocher tones. The canvas "Seascape" by Nikolai Dyulgerov is distinguished by high artistic qualities and is emblematic of the artist's work. (S.N.)"
