With the outbreak of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, in order to support this movement, the revolutionary government decided to issue the first banknotes. The presented piece captures the revolutionary spirit of the era, illustrating the cultural diversity of the area. On the reverse, the warning against counterfeiting is written in the languages spoken within the Habsburg Empire, including Romanian.
