Description

The Commodore VIC-20 was a personal computer launched by Commodore International in 1980 and remained in production until 1985, making it one of the best-selling computers in history (approximately 17 million copies). With a low selling price compared to other manufacturers, Commodore managed to dominate the computer market in the 80s, resulting in over 10,000 C64 programs. Part of the calculator's success was due to the sales strategy, i.e. not only to dealers but also to toy shops, bookshops, shopping malls, offering special purchase prices for these shops. Then, with the possibility to connect it to a TV, the computer could be turned into a games console, thus entering into direct competition with console manufacturers, which the company exploited to the full, offering a buy-back scheme to those who gave up a games console to buy a Commodore.
