Houses From Sighișoara
Houses From Sighișoara
Description
Focusing his creation on a restricted thematic register, artist Gheorghe Petrașcu develops an art of the concrete, emerging from the reality of everyday environments, from contact with those around him or from the places he visits. From the very beginning, he pays great attention to landscapes, making journeys to Vitré, Venice, Toledo, where he encounters architectures full of cultural vitality. He also frequently travels within the country to Viforâta, Târgoviște, Sibiu, or Sighișoara, where he is impressed by the richly colorful architecture. Near Sighișoara, he creates works such as: "Hanul Covaci from Sighișoara" (1922), "Houses from Sighișoara" (1922), "Sighișoara" (1922), etc. (G.M.)
