My World, My Rules

My World, My Rules

Description

The artwork My World, My Rules proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of the mythological siren, configured as a symbol of inner autonomy and identity sovereignty. She no longer appears as a presence defined by the gaze of the other, but as an instance of her own awareness, suspended in an aquatic space that metaphorically functions as territory of the unconscious, memory, and deep affective life. The red coral, similar to a network of arteries, evokes vital pulsation and the interdependence of body, emotion, and nature. In contrast, the skull introduces the theme of finiteness, while the starfish, seemingly dancing above it, reconfigures the symbol of death into an image of regeneration, continuity, and cyclical transformation. The work thus constitutes a reflection on the tension between vulnerability and strength, between the mythic dimension and existential experience, affirming the possibility of the individual to define their own inner universe and their own value system.
