On the lakeshore
On the lakeshore
Description
Janos Czencz's painting is teeming with plein-air scenes, where the protagonists are country girls with headscarves and long dresses, sitting on blankets, or even directly on the grass. Elegant florists or odalisques with colorful scarves and trousers become recurrent characters from the artist's work. Czencz will follow the courses of the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, during the period 1907-1912, and his activity will be rewarded with numerous prizes attesting to his plastic qualities. The painter will enjoy many personal exhibitions, and nowadays many of his works can be admired in the memorial house in Pecz, Hungary. The works present on the easels, therefore, reveal his interest in genre scenes - from fishing to housework, or even sunbathing. However, in this work, the artist points out the landscape, with the lake, and the forest, but he also makes sure to insert the two characters, with headscarves and long, brightly colored clothes, specific color spots of his style.
