Andy Warhol is known for announcing that everyone should be famous for fifteen minutes. Indeed, fame was what guided Warhol. He cultivated it through his cool, intriguing character, and surrounded himself with famous people. Creatively, fame took the image of Hollywood celebrities, political personalities, chic fashion personalities, rock musicians, and athletes. The work is part of a series of star athletes, including Dorothy Hamill and Pelé from the late '70s.
