Showing a precocious talent, Maradona was nicknamed "El Pibe de Oro" (The Golden Boy), a nickname that remained with him until the end of his life. Alongside Pelé, he is the winner of the unique FIFA Player of the Century award. Usually playing under number 10, Maradona was recognized for his goals scored from free kicks. He set the first world record for a transfer cost, specifically $5 million when he arrived at FC Barcelona in 1982. Subsequently, he was transferred to Napoli for $6.9 million. He was the captain of the Argentine national team in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where Argentina won against West Germany, and he won the Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament. During this World Cup, he also made history with two goals scored in the quarterfinals: the first, dubbed "The Hand of God", went unpunished for touching the ball with his hand; the second, considered Goal of the Century, when he dribbled past five opponents over 60 meters.
