tempera grasă și aur coloidal pe lemn, 32 x 24 cm, signed and dated at the bottom center, in red: "C. Popescu 18[95]"

On the light blue background of the icon, Jesus Christ is depicted rising victorious in glory from the tomb. Christ holds in his left hand a standard ending in a cross, symbol of victory over death, while his right hand is raised in the gesture of blessing. In the lower register of the composition, three soldiers are depicted: two of them, witnesses of the Resurrection, appear surprised and frightened, while the third is depicted asleep. An angel is illustrated removing the tomb lid. As a distinct element of this icon, the Myrrhbearers are schematically represented on the right side. Western painting influence over the local one is noticed, evidenced by the interpretation of the Lord's Resurrection in a specific Catholic way, different from the Orthodox tradition, which depicts it under the form of the Descent into Hell. At the bottom of the icon is recorded, in red, an inscription: "C. Popescu, 18[95]".
