Research information

The collective nickname of an unnamed trio, Bamby Tony was born in response to the need to give voice (and image) to some dynamics within the masculine gender as a biologic, social, personal dimension. His appearance marked the moment when the metaphoric expressions of masculine force, homoerotic impulses and puberty-related sexual tensions crystallised into a simple and obscene image. Bamby Tony confronts the audience by using hypersexual images, reflecting one of the most primary dilemmas and desires of men who confront themselves with their own biology. Based on naive aesthetics and on the traditional glass painting technique, Bamby Tony offers his work a traditionalistic, rustic vibe, thus abandoning conservative aesthetics, in order to raise awareness of the obscene and pornography boundaries, as well as the artistic gender stereotypes.
