In 1930, Marcel Iancu (Janco) was at the height of his career. He had just returned to Romania from Zurich, where he had studied architecture and where he had been one of the founders of the DADA Zurich group, and from France, where he worked as an architect for the reconstruction of buildings from the ruins of World War I. In Romania, together with his friend Ion Vinea, he founded the magazine "Contimporanul", a platform for all avant-garde groups in Europe. Alongside his brother, Jules Janco, he also established and worked as a modernist architect within the "Iancu Brothers" architecture firm, laying the foundations of an international reputation, which persists until today. At the same time, he worked diligently on some of the most notorious works of art, exhibited both at Bucharest Salons, and in foreign galleries and museums.
