It seems that the first influences were felt around Istvan Reti, whom he had met in Budapest during his studies. It was also Reti who guided him to Baia Mare, to the famous Colony of the early 20th century. Even though he first worked at Kecskemet, with Vilmos-Csaba Perlrott, Klein reached Baia Mare in 1919-1920, where he also made a home. He worked within the free school led by Janos Thorma, but he also felt influences from Ziffer, but particularly from the Post-Impressionist creation of Gauguin or Cézanne. The period 1920-1925 was defined by experiments in his pictorial and figurative regime, this composition being undoubtedly one of the first masterpieces of Klein.
