The French journalist Fredric Damé (1849-1907) settled in Romania definitively in 1872 and had a rich activity as a founder of French-language newspapers and a teacher at the St. Sava High School in Bucharest. After the publication of this work in Paris, in which he described the history of the Romanians between 1822 and 1900, Damé entered a fierce controversy with historian Nicolae Iorga, who virulently criticised him. The copy is very well preserved, it is bound in faux leather, with leather corners and spine.
