Wood is primeval, bearing ancestral meaning, thus the lot of the sculptor is that of capturing the turmoil of the world in this straightforward material. It is in this iconic equation that we find one of the most comprehensive cycles of the artist George Apostu, "Butterflies". This work, part of this cycle, suggests the inner sap of the wood he used. A vertical shaping, simple and sublime, forging energies. (I.C.)
