A generation fellow of Ciucurencu, Baba and Țuculescu, Alexandru Țipoia is one of the modern classics of the 20th century, standing out in various fields such as: painting, graphics, engraving, ceramics, mosaic or tapestry. He will be distinguished by a vital spirit, free of all restraint, the lyricism of his art dominating over traditional technical rigour. As far as painting is concerned, the artist will embrace a fastidiously simple painting in its formality, tending towards a classical balance and metaphysical ideals. Reduced to colour, from which he will exclude shadow and light, the atmosphere of his painting will involve an alternating play of tones, establishing a strong and complete expressiveness of planes. Verticality will become one of the major features of his work, intertwined with monumentality. The fourth period of his creative maturity (1962-1993) will focus on the theme of musical instruments and figurative painting. During this period the artist will make a series of conceptual reconciliations such as: the cycle of spirals ("Concentrație" ("Concentration"), the triptych "Echilibru - Omagiu lui Picasso" ("Equilibrium - Homage to Picasso"), "Gemenele" ("Twins")), the cycle of wave movements ("Germinație" ("Germination"), "Himera" ("Chimera"), "Galaxie" ("Galaxy"), "Mișcare ondulatorie" ("Wave Movement")) or the cycle of caryatids.
