welded steel balls, 80 x 60 x 20 cm, 80 × 60 × 20 cm, signed and dated on the base of the pedestal, "Misha, 2017"

"I discovered metal in college, my very first year. As I was then making an incursion to every section, in the first hour, when I found myself at the Metal section, I was stunned. I was fascinated by what I could do with that little piece of sheet metal I had in my hand, how I cut it, how I beat it nicely with the ball-peen hammer on the wooden block and it looked like a scoop - it was all new to me, and the technician showed us every technique and method. My mind started to work: I could do this, and I could do that - that's the material I was looking for. From that day on, I was convinced that I would learn to work with metal. The projects I had in mind lent themselves to this. I found the hard, cold metal and set out to give it visual and formal warmth through volumetry and composition. I try to lend it a feminine touch, to play with surfaces and textures, with fullness and emptiness." Works by Misha Diaconu are already permanently exhibited in public spaces, but also in museum collections such as the one at the Cultural Centre "Palatele Brâncovenești" Mogoșoaia, the Museum of Visual Arts in Galați, the Metropolis Theatre, etc. The current work, part of the series "Te simt în podul palmei" ("I feel you in my palm"), is an invitation to a dialogue, not only visual, but also tactile, reading tridimensionality through touch, to complete the image.
