Francisc Chiurariu is one of the most appreciated artists in the context of the emergence of the Romanian art scene after 1990. His visual discourse with an observational character becomes enigmatic by capturing individual stories lost in the urban conglomerate of a collective narrative. With the "Shadows" series, exhibited in 2012 at the AnnArt gallery, the artist strengthens his rhetoric regarding the fragility of identity in the cyclical dynamics of everyday life. The contrasting relationship between grays and strong colors emphasizes the fluidity of shapes, highlighting, at the same time, the juxtaposition between two planes, respectively that of the characters' reality and that of the surfaces on which their shadow is projected.
