Dubbed "a neo-Byzantine Pollock", Stefan Râmniceanu will focus part of his creative imagination on a series that constantly reiterates the human condition. The recurring character, having become a leitmotif of his work, will take on various identities and will represent, successively, different social categories. Thus, we will follow the path of the "Citizen K.", that of the "Monk", that of "Ion", or that of the "Utopian Painter"; or we will even reach the universe of "people" proposed by the artist, who divide themselves by distinct elements and titles such as "The Universal Man", "The Memory Man", "The Ancient Man", "The Vector Man" or "The Oriental Man". The series was born at the end of the 90s and stretches throughout the decade, tangentially meeting the start of the millennium. The artist will use different materials to highlight certain traits of the personality he designates through specific titles: painting, collage, metal, ink, photography, wood, concrete, velvet etc. Art appears, in Stefan Râmniceanu's conception, as a matrix of a nation's identity in which he primarily values painting dedicated to faith and the healing of man. The various alchemy of copper, on which he intervenes with acid, fire or other substances aimed at changing its usual features, will contribute to the exaltation of the substance and the revealing power of it. Looking through his work, we will identify Stefan Râmniceanu's interest in Modigliani, Van Gogh or Pollock. We can also notice that the time spent in the vicinity of Nicolae Steinhardt will materialize in the transfer into plastic motifs of teachings about the mysteries and spirituality that exalt the local space.
