Ilie Năstase is one of the greatest tennis players in history, the world leader in the '70s. He won over 100 ATP titles, 64 in singles and 45 in doubles. Among the 58 singles titles that Ilie Năstase won throughout his career, include the US Open in 1972, and Roland Garros in 1973. In doubles, he won Wimbledon in 1973, Roland Garros in 1970, and the US Open in 1975. He also won the Tour Finals four times in 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1975. For the Romanian Davis Cup team, he played a total of 146 singles and doubles matches over 18 years, winning 109. Alongside Ion Țiriac, he was a Davis Cup finalist three times, in 1969, 1971, and 1972. He was runner-up in the singles competition at Wimbledon twice, in 1972, playing the final against Stan Smith and, in 1976, against Björn Borg. Năstase was known for his on-court jokes, but also for his reputation of using aggressive tactics, many of them successful, for which he earned the nickname "Nasty".
