In 1919, exhausted by a ravaging war, Romania had to take up arms again, to defend itself - and defend Europe again - against the Bolshevik danger, which was coming from Hungary, this time. Bela Kun's army, organized and coordinated from Moscow, the new capital city of Bolshevik Russia, had conquered Hungary by coup d'état, after attacking, at the same time, Romania and Czechoslovakia (newly created as a multinational state), managing to occupy the latter. With an army decimated by the First World War and rudimentary equipped, the royal Romania led by Ferdinand, fights back uncompromisingly, throws the Hungarians beyond Tisza, after which, marching in force, conquers Hungary and reinstates the government that had been chased away by Bela Kun.
