The National Christian Party was founded in 1935 following the merger in Iasi of the Christian National Defense League led by A.C. Cuza with the National Agrarian Party led by Octavian Goga. The new party was a declared ultra-nationalist and anti-Semitic. The party ruled Romania between December 27, 1937 and February 10, 1938 along with a political group around Armand Călinescu and personalities related to King Carol II. It promoted anti-Semitic laws that had long-term effects.
