The Dutch engraver Daniel Stopendaal (1672-1726) was appreciated by the wealthy Dutch bourgeoisie who commissioned numerous works from him, generally views, landscapes or pieces on allegorical themes. He illustrated the 1714 edition of the Bible published at the initiative of the publishers Jacob and Pieter Keur in Amsterdam, a work to which the present piece also belongs.

For clarifications regarding the bidding procedure, hammer price costs, guarantee, payment, and collection terms for the winning lot, we recommend carefully reading/re-reading the Bidding Regulations.
