Obverse In a pearly circle an asymmetric shield with the coat of arms of Moldova: ox head with a star between its horns having five rays, with the odd ray pointing upwards, flanked on its heraldic left by a waning moon and on the right by a rose with five petals, the odd one pointing upwards. Legend: + IO STEFANA VOEVODA GOSPO Reverse in inner linear circle: asymmetric shield in which is found a patriarchal cross formed from two Maltese crosses, on the left and right of the shield is a rose with five petals each Legend: + DAR * ZEMLI MOLDAVSCOI The coins issued during the reign of Stefan IV (Stefanita) are groschen and half groschen, which preserve the typology of Bogdan the III's coins. The images of the ox head, surrounded by a stylized shield of asymmetric form, deviate from the traditional design of the Moldovan coat of arms. Stefanita (names by Grigore Ureche in his chronicle as "Young Stefan Voda" because he was only 14 years old when he ascended the throne) was the son of Bogdan III and the nephew of Stefan the Great. He ruled over Moldova between 1517 and 1527. In 1523, after the execution of Luca Arbore, accused of "deceit", he entered into conflict with a part of the boyars. In 1526, he married Stana, one of Neagoe Basarab's daughters. His grave is located at Putna Monastery. Ion Voda the Brave, who ruled over Moldova between 1572 and 1574, was the illegitimate son of Stefanita.
