Medalia era bătută probabil cu ocazia funeraliilor mareșalului Alexandru Averescu în 1938. Pe avers apare tânărul sublocotenent de Roșiori Averescu în anul 1881, moment în care absolvea Școala divizionară de la Mânăstirea Dealu. Reversul este dominat în plan central de figura personajului în uniformă de mareșal.
