Referencing the famous sculpture "Venus de Milo" exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris, this work brings to the attention of viewers a symbol that has entered history. From Antiquity to the present, Venus has emerged as the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, corresponding in Greek art to Aphrodite. In 1936, Dali successfully completed the work "Venus de Milo with Drawers", a creation that represented an act of revolution of consciousness by transforming the ancient goddess of love and beauty into an anthropomorphic piece of furniture. In an interview, the artist stated that the drawers facilitate the possibility of penetrating the body of the goddess, to her soul. We are therefore dealing with a Freudian transposition of ancient civilizations through a surrealist reinterpretation. We note the blend of traditionalism with the avant-garde, or of ancient Greek art with surrealism, that results in a formidable commentary on the nature of human beauty (both physical and inner). According to the artist, "Freud discovered the world of the subconscious in the curved surfaces of ancient bodies, and Dali cut drawers inside them". In this work we find 6 drawers that present themselves to the public as metaphors of Freudian psychoanalysis or as a means of delving into the subconscious. If Venus is the embodiment of the ideal of beauty, the drawers become a metaphor for portraying the imperfections or hidden aspects of human nature.
