The medal was awarded to the members of the first Deputy Chamber of the United Principalities. On the obverse side, centrally, framed by laurel branches and surmounted by a crown, one can see the representations of the Moldavian Coat of Arms (the starred bull's head) and the Wallachian Coat of Arms (the eagle carrying a sceptre and sword), and, on the lower part, in half-circle, the date 24th of January 1859. On the reverse side, in five lines, without any adornments, the following text is inscribed: "DEPUTATUL ESTE INVIOLABILŬ ARTICOLULŬ XX ALŬ CONVENŢII" The text refers to the "Convention related to the organisation of the Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia", following the 1858 Conference of Paris, signed by the representatives of the great powers: the French Empire, the Austrian Empire, the Kingdom of Great Britain, the Kingdom of Prussia, the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Sardinia and the Ottoman Empire. The convention has an appendix including electoral recommendations and stipulations. Therefore, article XX of the appendix contains the following translated text: "No member of the Assembly can be arrested or prosecuted throughout the session, unless the Assembly has authorised the proceedings, excepting the cases of flagrante delicto". For the execution of this medal, these recommendation in article XX were summed up under a simple and more precise motto: "DEPUTATUL ESTE INVIOLABILŬ".
