Considered one of the most important representatives of post-Impressionism, Van Gogh will remain a resounding name, with a prominent influence on art from around the world, particularly known since the end of the 20th century. The vibrant colors and recognizable brushwork often summarize the quintessence of the tortured artist. "Starry Night" remains, undoubtedly, one of the most known works of art in history. Admired at length by art lovers and not only, transposed into digital art, in impressive immersive exhibitions; in collectibles or even lithographs; this work is much coveted by collectors. The genesis of the work can be identified in the landscape that the painter looked at from his window within the Saint-Paul de Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy, in the south of France. The artist will stay there for twelve months (1889-1890), trying to focus on his mental health. The work will be created in mid-June, becoming an innovative way of expressing feelings through symbols. Although it describes a night landscape, van Gogh would have completed the work in several work sessions spread over the days - therefore having a completely different atmospheric tempo as a backdrop. The village and relief forms, the stars, the sun, and even the planet Venus are chained together, but the cypresses in the foreground are also very prominent. The blue, starry sky, dominated by the warm color of the moon, but also the alteration and distortion of shapes and the accentuation of some fantastic shimmers result in a plastic language deeply connected to the emotional one. The painter's fervor driven by passion and desire will be the end point of one of the most appreciated works of art.
