The obverse of the medal features the bust of Ion Brătianu, facing left, next to the semi-circular legend in exergue "August 20, 1925, to Ion I.C. Brătianu: his friends" and the engraver Constantin Kristescu's signature, above the left shoulder, while the reverse depicts an allegorical image of Romania with a young woman in folk costume, supported by a shield with the kingdom coat of arms and conferring a property deed to a group of villagers, staying near an infantry militia soldier, together with I.C. Brătianu's monument of Bucharest. The legend on the reverse surrounds the central image and includes the phrase "The ancestral dream of ages fulfilled by - the bravery of the soldier and the skills of the rulers"; in the exergue we find written "Greater Romania gives lands to its worthy sons / Gold from Transylvania that you liberated from slavery". Ion Brătianu, prominent politician of the National Liberal Party, played a considerable role both in the realization of the Great Union and in the domestic politics.
