Titi Aur's career began as a test driver for the Dacia Pitești factories, his competitive debut being in 1986 on a Dacia 1300 car. In 1995 he won his first national title, from a long series that extended over more than 10 years. Titi Aur, who retired from the competitive arena in 2011, was the longest-serving Romanian racing driver and also the first Romanian driver to participate in WRC races.
