The Chevrolet Corvette, a model known as the "Vette", is a sports car manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet for over 60 years and eight generations of design. With its generations successively named C1 to C8, Corvette serves as Chevrolet's flagship model and is widely noticeable for its distinctive performance and body - either made of fiberglass or composite. The concept of the first model, the convertible, was introduced at GM Motorama in 1953 and was followed, ten years later, by the second generation in 1963, in two variants, coupé and convertible. The Corvette has since become known as "America's sports car." Automotive News wrote that after being featured on the Route 66 television show in the early 1960s, the Chevrolet-produced model became synonymous with freedom and adventure.
