In one of the interviews given at the time (N. Pora, "Rampa", 1916) Artachino shared his love for flower painting, a fact, however, rarely manifested, at least if we take as a reference his presences within the Youth Artistic. For Artachino this passion for painting flowers was not manifested as in the case of other artists - namely, those who developed an affinity for certain varieties, our painter being more attracted by aspect and the opportunity for some interesting stylistic interpretations, than by the specifications of a certain floral type. He paints the sunflower, roses, lilies, chrysanthemums that impress especially through the decorative manner offered, where the flowers occupy the foreground of the composition on a background that prevents the realization of perspective depth. Many other times Artachino uses floral elements and compositions with characters, which often introduce a symbolist language, but in which the flower motif is treated with the same intensity as the rest of the imagined components. With the same principles, the "Garden with Lilies" is presented, the image of a floral instance whose central point is the flowering of lilies. The effect materializes especially through the contrast with the dark, darkened background, skilfully through the technique of artificial lighting, so well handled by Constantin Artachino.
