The Curtea de Argeș Episcopal Church was restructured between 1875 and 1886, under the coordination of French architect André Lecomte du Noüy, a close friend of the Romanian Royal Family. In order to mark the completion of the works and the reopening of the church, the Socec publishing house from Bucharest edited this elegant work comprising 19 illustrations and 13 photoengravings of a very high quality. Amongst the photoengravings, one can notice the portraits of King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth, as well as a global image of the church consecration celebration. On this edition's pages, Vasile Alecsandri published a poem dedicated to the event, and historian and archaeologist Grigore Tocilescu drafted the conclusions. The specimen's cover is of recent date.
