It is the first translation into Italian of the famous literary work written by ancient author Cassius Dio about the History of the Roman Empire, published in 80 volumes, which even reached Romania in various editions. The content of this History describes also the wars between Dacians and Romans. Venetian scholar Nicolo Leonicelo (1428-1524) translated the work into Italian by using a Greek language version. The edition of this translation appeared in 1533 in Venice. Within the printing's content, there is a portrait of the ancient author, as well as 22 illustrations, all in the form of woodcut. The specimen is in a good state of preservation, and presents a fairly modern binding, perhaps from the early 19th Century, with hardback covers and a leather back, divided into five registers.
