The volume comprises the main text and the appendices of the 1878 Berlin Peace Treaty, which established a new European order after the end of the Russian-Turkish War, which in Romania is known as the 1877 Independence War The Treaty recognised, among other stipulations, Romania's independence on certain conditions, and established the return under Russian dominance of the three districts in southern Bessarabia, which were retroceded to Romania following the 1856 Paris Peace Congress. The specimen is part of the official edition, published in Bucharest after signing the Berlin Treaty.
