The obverse is decorated with an allegorical scene symbolizing the union of the two Romanian Principalities in 1859, represented by two seated female figures holding hands. Behind them is visible a flag that has at the top a cross located in the middle between the coat of arms of Moldova, the bison's head, and that of Wallachia, the eagle. In exergue, one can read the legend UNIUNEA-RUMANA. In the lower plan is marked the name of the engraver, E. Farochon sculp. The reverse supports a broad legend, referring to the moment of issuance of the piece, ”CAMERA ELECTIVĂ / A MOLDOVEI / D-LORU / B. STURZA. ȘI A. PANU / CAIMACAMI DE LA 20. OCT: / 1858. PÎNĂ LA 5. IAN: 1859: / PENTRU APĂRAREA / AUTONOMIEI ȘI DIGNITA. / TEI NATIONALE”.
