On the first page there is a beautiful handwritten dedication, signed by Queen Maria to Emil Panaitescu (1885-1958). He was a professor of archaeology at the University of Cluj after 1918, director at the Academy di Romania in Rome between 1929 and 1940, a period in which he was involved in the creation of a replica of Trajan's Column. During the First World War, he collaborated with the queen for whom he translated several of her books into Romanian.
