This is a relatively rare numismatic issue in the context of the current market, even though, compared to the entire Byzantine gold emissions, the solidi minted under the reign of Justinian I — especially the types with the personification of Constantinople on the reverse or the depiction of an angel — are among the most frequently found in discoveries and collections. However, an analysis of public sales over the past approximately fifteen years indicates that, in practice, just a few dozen examples have been identified for each of these series.
