Vasile Adamachi (1817-1892) was a politician and philanthropist who donated funds and properties worth 2,500,000 lei to the Romanian Academy, which the Romanian Academy used for awarding the eponymous prize that rewarded achievements in the field of sciences, as well as for supporting the cultural and scientific initiatives of this high forum. The volumes comprise a synthesis of the academic activities financed from this fund. The binding of the copies is new.
