With a career extending over more than four decades, Vasile Grigore earned his place among the most important representatives of contemporary painting. Being in the same generation as Viorel Mărginean in Professor Ioan Marșic’s class, and an adept of Ciucurencu, Vasile Grigore took it into his head to recount a palpable, living, and realistic imagery, alive and realistic. Drawn to easel painting, either standing before the motif, or in his workshop, the painter never parted from that realism of the vision, even though the experiences of the avantgarde current currents did not remain unknown to him. He manifested tendencies towards geometrization and essentialization, close to abstraction, staying, however, in the sphere of the figurative, which he fosters within the tackled genres - still lives, landscapes, or interiors.
