The human factor holds an important place in the work of artist Baba, which he studies with great interest from the very start. Whether in compositions or portraits, man is ever present in his art. The human factor is felt as being the most alive when the artist evinces particular for the study of human character, singularized in the expression of the faces, in the attitudes of the body, or in the rhetoric of the hands, which are ever present in his compositions or portraits. His portraits, an area in which he is majestically distinguished, the artist made a series of monumental portraits: "Mihail Sadoveanu" (1953), "Lucia Sturza Bulandra" (1953), "Tudor Arghezi" (1963), "Portretul soției" ("Portrait of the Wife") (1953; 1957), "Mihai Sorbul" (1946), "Portret de fată în roz" ("Portrait of a Girl in Pink") (1957), "Omul cu lingura" "Man with a Spoon") (1975), "George Enescu" (1976) or "Portret (Spaniolă)" ("Portrait (Spanish Woman") (1976), genuine colour symphonies and expressions of the maturity of his searches.
