Decorated by the Higher Institute of Architecture Saint-Luc in Belgium and with works in both private and public collections, such as Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Peekskill or ARKEN Museum of Modern Art, Skowej, Marius Bercea is one of the artists who put Romania on the international art map. The current work is part of a series of paper works, "Thoughts Safari", which focuses on the artist's interest in archiving certain moments or reactivating certain memories. A hybrid world, between Transylvanian landscapes and Californian colors, with fictitious or allegorical characters, transforms into a scene. The characters gain a contextual role, depending on the moment or activity in which they are placed. Each work is anecdotal, combining memories, states or even thoughts of the artist. The plastically transposed world is one of contrasts: between vibrant and exuberant colors, an intense melancholy is felt, a utopian but also dystopian atmosphere.
