Although the artist does not have a complete project dedicated to Assan's mill, this symbol appears constantly in several of his works from different periods and projects. Assan's mill, built in 1853, is the first steam mill built in Romania. Hidden among the communist-looking blocks, the architecture of the former building suffered significant damage from a fire that burned almost 90% of its surface and from the collapse of the ceiling, a consequence of the massive theft of scrap metal, leaving the historic site unattended. Today, the image of the former building that once represented an innovation in the city's industry and architecture has almost completely faded from the collective memory. Starting from this harsh reality, Nicolae Comănescu turns the mill into a symbol of a city in decay, dirty, unkempt, a corrupt city full of contradictions.
