23. The Fountain of Eternal Youth [2022]

Rooted in contemporaneity and by appealing to the antagonism to an "Arcadia", the work "The Fountain of Eternal Youth" is a reference to immemorial times when the animal, vegetable, mineral kingdoms were the ones that wrapped the human element. As a source of eternal life, part of a never-ending purifying flow, water is the inspiration for the work’s title. The presence of the human element (the child) also signifies a perpetuation of life, just as the manmade fountain and the statues are osmotically included in a universe without threat, preserving the memory of the past and implying the perspective of the future. The complementary chromatic juxtapositions, the overlapping of the compositional planes, together with the presence of the pointillist technique in the depiction of details, the transparencies, all converge towards the inclusion of the viewer in the creative act, providing him with the possibility of discovery and interpretation.
