The icon represents the central panel of a triptych. The scene of the Crucifixion of Jesus is depicted under a red-painted golden arch. The cross of the Crucifixion forms the symmetry axis of the composition. On both sides, at the base of the cross, the Mother of God and St. John the Theologian are rendered standing with a sorrowful demeanour. In the background one can see the wall of the City of Jerusalem. At the top corners of the icon two heads of halo angels are painted, with their wings unfolded. The balanced composition is reduced to the essential characters. Their faces have the typology and pattern as per the style of the traditional Greek school. Also, the method of creating the draping of the garments, as well as the chromatics, are inscribed on the same line of preserving the tradition of painting of the previous century.
