The portrait of the Fanariot ruler Nicolae Mavrocordat (1680-1730), several times prince ruler on the thrones of Moldova and Țara Românească in the first half of the 18th century, portrays the ruler in a needle engraving on a copper plate done by the German engraver Andreas Nunzer (active between 1722 and 1740), inspired by an older engraving by Johann Georg Wolfgang (1664-1744) in Berlin in 1721. You can read the inscription: D D: IOANNES NICOLAVS ALEXANDRI MA(V)ROCORDATO DE SCARLATI: CELSISS: ATQ: SAPIENTISS. TOTTVS VALACHIÆ PRINCEPS. In the lower part, you can see the coat of arms of the two principalities, Moldova and Muntenia, and in the lower right corner you can see the signature of the engraver of the plate, A. Nunzer f(e)c(it).
