Physical and historical map comprising Wallachia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and the southern Danube regions. The title is presented on the upper left side, in a frame, in an ornate inset map with acanthi leaves and a panoply with weapons and flags, having in the middle a shield with crescent moon. Exhibits polychromatic watercolour interventions. Lower left side inscription "Per Geratdum Mercatorem/Guiljelmus Blaeu excudebat". Atlas pages, with small repair intervention signs. On the back, text in Latin describing the existence of Wallachia and Moldova, mention of several localities and the fact that the poet Ovidiu was exiled to Tomis. Between 1632 and 1654, the ruler of the Țara Românească was Matei Basarab, who, like Vasile Lupu in Moldova, introduces for the first time written laws on the territory of Wallachia. The two collections of laws printed by Matei Basarab were the "Pravila de la Govora" ("The Govora Law Book") of 1640 and the "Pravila lui Matei Basarab" ("Matei Basarab’s Law Book") of 1652. The Regulation of these written laws was the first step toward the modernization of Țara Românească.
