The Octoih ("The Songs of the Days of the Week in Eight Voices"), printed in a single column, is adorned with vignettes, frontispieces, and initials. On the verso of the title page, the coats of arms of Wallachia and Moldova are engraved together, and at the beginning of the book there is an engraving of St. John Damascene, the Byzantine theologian who composed the Octoih for religious service. Dedicated to the ruler: "Being driven by God / And crowned in Wallachia / You who are of noble lineage / Michael Voivode Racoviță / Him giving you power with too strong an arm / The sword, the mace of great victory." Of interest are also the handwritten marginal notes, one dated 1779, which present climatological data (the last leaf). Leather binding, metal clasps.
