Aceste ceasuri au fost folosite să determine dacă un paznic de noapte îşi făcea turele de inspecţie. El trebuia să introducă o cheie în exteriorul carcasei ceasului, aceasta producând o urmă pe hârtie. În carcasă se puteau introduce până la şase chei diferite, pentru confirmarea turelor. Carcasa era sigilată, utilizatorul neavând acces la interiorul ceasului. Mecanism cu întoarcere manuală.
