The icon stands out due to its artistic quality, and it was probably made to order for a wealthy person. Virgin Mary is depicted in bust form, with her hands joined together, robed in a maphorion with a halo, with the crucified Son’s body to the side, depicted in an undersized form, covered in the peplum and with bleeding wounds.
