Although numerous depictions of Our Lady - The Mourning are known to remain from the creations of Matei Tâmforea, the artist never ceases to amaze with the freshness of fantasy with which he was generously endowed, hence the fascinating world of decorative elements with which he personalized each work. This is notable for its richness and abundance of flowers. The icon is dated, in black "1886", mid-bottom. (M.B.) Conservation status: it presents a crack and completion in the lower left corner.
